Book Recommendation: Sick Girl

Sick Girl is an honest, gritty memoir about not always being thankful for a hard life. In the genre that is chronic illness memoir, gratitude is expected; and in a refreshing twist, Sick Girl doesn’t deliver. Amy Silverstein tells the truth behind the painful ups and downs of being a heart transplant recipient; and begins the book questioning whether or not she wants to continue taking the medications that keep her alive.

On a scale from zero to five stars, I give this one a 4 1/2. I’m deducting half a star only because she overreacts to having to take pred–our little IBD buddy.
